Past Ideology

 

  A small-scale idealization of a part of the L tracks in Chicago, Illinois. The section was inspired at the cross section of Monroe and Wabash where I passed by most often. In my first arrival to Chicago, I would always look up to the train tracks and admire the structure before I move on to my next destination. I would tell myself that one day I will become someone who eventually creates artwork as overwhelming and complex as the L tracks. I later realized the tracks are the root of where my art life began. This piece monumentalizes that specific moment and location. 

 

  Created through memory, the art work is cast in bronze in separate pieces, fabricated after all the casting is done. By creating a work that recontextualizes the train tracks from an elevated location to a more intimate space, it communicates to the seemingly unreachable boundaries I once felt.
